ABSTRACT

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with t(16;21)(p11;q22)/FUS::ERG is a rare AML subtype associated with poor prognosis. However, its clinical and molecular features remain poorly defined. We determined the clinicopathological, genomic, and transcriptomic characteristics and outcomes of patients with AML harboring FUS::ERG at our center. Thirty-six AML patients harboring FUS::ERG were identified, with an incidence rate of 0.3%. These patients were characterized by high lactate dehydrogenase levels (median: 838.5 U/L), elevated bone marrow blast counts (median: 71.5%), and a CD56-positive immunophenotype (94.3%). Notably, we found that RTK-RAS GTPase (RAS) pathway genes, including NRAS (33%) and PTPN11 (24%), were frequently mutated in this subtype. Transcriptome analysis revealed enrichment of the phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase-Akt (PI3K-Akt), mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), and RAS signaling pathways and upregulation of BCL2, the target of venetoclax, in FUS::ERG AML compared to RUNX1::RUNX1T1 AML, a more common AML subtype with good prognosis. The median event-free survival in patients with FUS::ERG AML was 11.9 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 9.0-not available [NA]) months and the median overall survival was 18.2 (95% CI: 12.4-NA) months. Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation failed to improve outcomes. Overall, the high incidence of RTK-RAS pathway mutations and high expression of BCL2 may indicate promising therapeutic targets in this high-risk AML subset.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: Core strength is vital for athletic performance, and many more exercises that involve the kinetic chain have been designed for able-bodied athletes. Disabilities that impair the kinetic chain can reduce the effectiveness of strength training. However, the impact of amputation on core strength training of people with disabilities and its underlying mechanism remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the muscle activation patterns and levels in athletes with amputation during 4 basic and modified weight-bearing core strength-training exercises. METHODS: Fifteen elite athletes with unilateral amputation (170.6 [7.3] cm; 63.9 [11.9] kg; 25.9 [5.3] y) volunteered for this study. Surface electromyography was used to measure the muscle activity mainly in the lumbopelvic-hip complex-stabilizing muscles during 4 kinetic chain trunk exercises with and without modifications. RESULTS: The significance level was set at α = .05. The results showed a significant difference in muscle activation between different body sides (P < .05). Specifically, amputation on the support position resulted in a diagonal pattern of muscle activation, and amputation on the free distal segments resulted in a unilateral dominant pattern with higher activation in muscles on the nonamputated side (P < .05). Modifications led to significant decreases in muscle activation asymmetry index (P < .05). CONCLUSIONS: Amputation caused muscle activation asymmetry and 2 activation patterns. Modifications by enhancing proximal stability and adjusting distal loading effectively reduced the asymmetry of muscle activation. Coaches and clinicians can use these results to tailor exercises for athletes with disabilities in training and rehabilitation.

ABSTRACT

To significantly enhance the performance of point cloud semantic segmentation, this manuscript presents a novel method for constructing large-scale networks and offers an effective lightweighting technique. First, a latent point feature processing (LPFP) module is utilized to interconnect base networks such as PointNet++ and Point Transformer. This intermediate module serves both as a feature information transfer and a ground truth supervision function. Furthermore, in order to alleviate the increase in computational costs brought by constructing large-scale networks and better adapt to the demand for terminal deployment, a novel point cloud lightweighting method for semantic segmentation network (PCLN) is proposed to compress the network by transferring multidimensional feature information of large-scale networks. Specifically, at different stages of the large-scale network, the structure and attention information of the point features are selectively transferred to guide the compressed network to train in the direction of the large-scale network. This paper also solves the problem of representing global structure information of large-scale point clouds through feature sampling and aggregation. Extensive experiments on public datasets and real-world data demonstrate that the proposed method can significantly improve the performance of different base networks and outperform the state-of-the-art.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to evaluate the adverse effects of unilateral transfemoral amputation on neuromuscular and kinematic parameters in alpine sit skiers, and to determine if additional restraints on the human-bucket interface could help mitigate the effects. DESIGN: Cross-sectional, repeated measures study. METHODS: Simulated skiing tests were conducted indoors involving 10 skiers with unilateral transfemoral amputation and 10 able-bodied participants. A Paralympic silver medalist performed slalom skiing tests on snow. These tests were conducted with and without additional strapping on the residual limb. Surface electromyography of trunk muscles and athletic performance was measured, and the asymmetry index was calculated. RESULTS: Athletes were significantly dependent on muscle activation on the dominant side (asymmetry index = 7.8 %-28.3 %, p < 0.05). Worse athletic performance to the dominant side was found based on inclination angles of the indoor board (asymmetry index = -9.8 %, p = 0.014) and outdoor sit ski (-11.1 %, p = 0.006), and distance to the gate poles during skiing turns (18.6 %, p < 0.001). After using additional restraints, the above asymmetry index declined significantly (asymmetry index < 4.5 %, p < 0.05). Furthermore, athletic performance was significantly improved on both body sides by 11.1 %-30.7 % (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Unilateral transfemoral amputation caused the dependence on the trunk muscles of the dominant side and the corresponding unilateral poor performance in athletes. Adjusting restraints in the human-equipment interface by additional strapping could mitigate the asymmetry issues and improve athletic performance.

ABSTRACT

A fluorometric method based on boron, bromide-codoped carbon dots (BBCNs) was developed for the first time for the highly selective detection of p-nitroaniline (PNA) in wastewater samples. It should be noted that the introduction of bromine greatly increases the molecular polarizability of the probe, which can regulate the energy level matching between the probe and PNA, resulting in the interaction between BBCNs and PNA. In the presence of PNA, the fluorescence of BBCNs is obviously quenched and accompanied by a red shift of the fluorescence band, which might be attributed to the formation of aggregates caused by the polar adsorption of BBCNs and PNA. It is beneficial for constructing a highly selective sensing platform for PNA determination compared to its isomers (o-nitroaniline and m-nitroaniline) through atomic bromine-mediated polarization of the BBCNs. With the help of this mechanism, an excellent linear range of 0.5-300 µM with a low detection limit of 0.24 µM toward PNA was obtained. This work further confirms that there is a significant relationship between the nature of doping elements and the optical and physicochemical properties of fluorescent materials.

ABSTRACT

Rigid-reflector spaceborne antennas (RRSAs) are well-suited for high-frequency application scenarios due to their high surface accuracy. However, the low stowing efficiency of RRSAs limits the aperture diameters and further deteriorates the electromagnetic (EM) performances in terms of gain, resolution and sensitivity. After conducting systematic feature analysis with respect to several typical RRSAs, we propose a novel type of RRSA to solve the aforementioned problems. Inspired by the pose adjustment process for a higher stowing efficiency of traditional RRSAs, we also propose a new segmentation scheme of a reflective surface consisting of a deviation-angle panel that facilitates a higher stowing efficiency. Based on this scheme, its corresponding folded configuration is implemented by combining Euler's rotation theorem and the idea of parameter identification. In addition, we also compare the stowing efficiency of different schemes to verify the high stowing efficiency of the configuration. Finally, we perform mechanism/structure design and deployment dynamics to demonstrate that the antenna can be successfully deployed and exhibits excellent deployment quality. The results suggest that the proposed antenna possesses higher stowing efficiency than that of the same kind, with a stable deployment and interference-free process.

ABSTRACT

Several international centers have used and reported pediatric-inspired regimens for adolescent and adult patients with Philadelphia chromosome-negative acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph- ALL). However, there is a lack of prospective data on the Chinese population. Herein, we performed a prospective study with a pediatric-inspired regimen (IH-2014 regimen) in treating adolescent and adult Ph- ALL patients in our center. From 2014 to 2021, a total of 415 patients aged between 14 and 65 years (median age, 27) were included in this study. After a median follow-up of 40.8 months, the 5-year overall survival, disease-free survival, and event-free survival rates were 53.8%, 51.1% and 45.0%, respectively. The regimen was generally well tolerated and safe, and the overall chemotherapy-related mortality was 3.6%. Age ≥ 40 years and persistent detectable minimal residual disease (MRD) post-induction were independent prognostic factors. Traditional risk factors for adult patients combined with MRD post-induction exhibit predictive significance for survival and relapse, which is helpful in the selection of subsequent treatment. Patients with high risk factors who can achieve deep MRD response after induction do not derive benefit from allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: Para-alpine sit skiers face unique challenges in balance control due to their disabilities and the use of sit skis. This study assessed their multi-joint coordination before and after slackline training. METHODS: Nine alpine sit skiers (6 M/3 F; 27 ± 8 years; height: 168.3 ± 6.0 cm; body mass: 55.4 ± 6.9 kg) with different disabilities (LW10-LW12) volunteered for the experiment. All subjects performed slackline training for 5 weeks (20 sessions). Joint kinematics were captured by vision-based markerless motion analysis. Root mean square (RMS) amplitude, mean velocity and mean power frequency (MPF) were evaluated. RESULTS: After training, performance improved significantly with an increase in balance time (1041%, p = 0.002), and a decrease in joint angular velocities and RMS amplitude of the sit ski foot (p < 0.05). Joint synergies were developed through in- or anti-phase movements between joint pairs, particularly involving the hip joints (continuous relative phase angles ~0° or 180°, p < 0.001). Multi-joint coordination shifted from large-RMS amplitude of elbows to low-MPF large-RMS amplitude of the hip and shoulders (p < 0.05), with a significant increase of hip weighting (77.61%, p = 0.031) in the principal component analysis. The coordination was maintained with the change of slackline tension (p < 0.05). Athletes with severe trunk disabilities (LW10) had shorter balance time and poorer coordination than athletes with full trunk functions (LW12). CONCLUSIONS: Our findings showed the development of joint coordination involving better control of the hip and sit skis during the challenging slackline training task.

The International Paralympic Committee has been promoting the development of evidence-based classification to reduce the subjectivity in current decision-making systems. The current study aimed to evaluate the validity of the impairment and performance tests for para-alpine sit skiing classification, and whether cluster analysis of the measures would produce a valid classification structure. Thirty-eight para-alpine sit skiers with different disabilities completed seven tests. During these tests, isometric trunk strength, trunk muscle excitation, trunk range of movement (ROM), and simulated skiing performance (board tilt angle) were assessed. Correlations between the measures and the board tilt angle were calculated. To group athletes, K-means cluster analysis was performed according to how much the impairment measures affected the board tilting. There were significant correlations between all measures and the maximal board tilt angle (r = 0.35-0.81, p < 0.05). The cluster analysis revealed that the introduction of ROM and muscle excitation was an effective supplement to strength measures in improving the classification accuracy (53%-79%). It produced four clusters with strong structures (mean silhouette coefficient = 0.81) and large and significant inter-cluster differences in most measures and performance between clusters (p < 0.05). The cluster analysis produced classes comprising athletes with similar degrees of activity limitation. All tests reported can help establish a more transparent classification system for para-alpine sit skiers. This study also provides a reference for evidence-based classification systems in other Para sports.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of azacitidine (AZA) combined with danazol (DNZ) and thalidomide (THD) maintenance therapy after intensive chemotherapy (IC) in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). METHODS: we retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 11 patients treated with AZA combined with DNZ and THD as maintenance therapy after IC at the Baiyun Hospital were between February 2017 and March 2021. The patients' clinical features, relapse-free survival (RFS), and overall survival (OS) were analyzed. RESULTS: Eleven cases fulfilled the AML criteria per the 2016 World Health Organization classification. Of the 11 patients, five were females, and six were males, with a median age of 45 years (range, 23-65 years). Ten patients were in the first complete remission (CR1), and one patient was in the second complete remission (CR2). All patients received AZA combined with DNZ and THD maintenance therapy after IC. The median number of AZA cycles received was 7 (6-12). Until June 2022, the median follow-up period was 37 (14-63) months; one patient had a relapse, and three died. RFS at 1 year and 3 years was 100% and 71.1%, respectively, and OS at 3 years was 100%. CONCLUSION: AZA combined with DNZ and THD maintenance therapy is effective for patients with AML who are ineligible for allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Further studies with large sample sizes and randomized are needed to verify these findings.

ABSTRACT

Meloxicam (Mel), as a powerful and effective anti-inflammatory drug, is commonly employed for the treatment of various inflammatory diseases; however, the use of Mel at high doses or for extended periods could cause severe side effects in human visceral organs. Therefore, a simple, rapid, and reliable method is urgently needed to monitor Mel in biological samples. Herein, novel water-soluble luminescent nano-carbon dots (nano-Cdots) with outstanding physicochemical properties were prepared by a one-pot high-temperature hydrothermal process of ellagic acid and guanidine. The nano-Cdots were further used as an optical probe for the sensitive detection of Mel in serum samples through the cooperative mechanisms of the inner filter effect and photoelectron transfer. By employing this sensor, an excellent linear correlation was achieved between the relative luminescent intensity [(PL0 - PL)/PL0] and the concentration of Mel in the range of 0.1 to 200 µM, with a limit of detection of 34.68 nM (3σ/k). This sensor was effectively employed for the analysis of Mel in real serum samples, implying its potential development prospects for the advancement of drug analysis with carbon-based probes.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Venetoclax (Ven) combined with intensive chemotherapy was proven effective in the management of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). However, the severe and prolonged myelosuppression remains a concern to worry about. To explore more appropriate combination regimens, we designed Ven combining daunorubicin and cytarabine (DA 2 + 6) regimen as induction therapy, aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety in adults de novo AML. METHODS: A phase 2 clinical trial was performed in 10 Chinese hospitals to investigate Ven combined with daunorubicin and cytarabine (DA 2 + 6) in patients with AML. The primary endpoints were overall response rate (ORR), comprising of complete remission (CR), complete remission with incomplete blood cell count recovery (CRi), and partial response (PR). Secondary endpoints included measurable residual disease (MRD) of bone marrow assessed by flow cytometry, overall survival (OS), event-free survival (EFS), disease-free survival (DFS), and the safety of regimens. This study is a currently ongoing trial listed on the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry as ChiCTR2200061524. RESULTS: Overall, 42 patients were enrolled from January 2022 to November 2022; 54.8% (23/42) were male, and the median age was 40 (range, 16-60) years. The ORR after one cycle of induction was 92.9% (95% confidence interval [CI], 91.6-94.1; 39/42) with a composite complete response rate (CR + CRi) 90.5% (95% CI, 89.3-91.6, CR 37/42, CRi 1/42). Moreover, 87.9% (29/33) of the CR patients with undetectable MRD (95% CI, 84.9-90.8). Grade 3 or worse adverse effects included neutropenia (100%), thrombocytopenia (100%), febrile neutropenia (90.5%), and one mortality. The median neutrophil and platelet recovery times were 13 (5-26) and 12 (8-26) days, respectively. Until Jan 30, 2023, the estimated 12-month OS, EFS, and DFS rates were 83.1% (95% CI, 78.8-87.4), 82.7% (95% CI, 79.4-86.1), and 92.0% (95% CI, 89.8-94.3), respectively. CONCLUSION: Ven with DA (2 + 6) is a highly effective and safe induction therapy for adults with newly diagnosed AML. To the best of our knowledge, this induction therapy has the shortest myelosuppressive period but has similar efficacy to previous studies.

ABSTRACT

Methotrexate (MTX) has an antitumor effect when used for the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). This study aims at evaluating the associations between 14 polymorphisms of six genes involved in MTX metabolism with serum MTX concentration and toxicity accompanying high-dose MTX. Polymorphisms in 183 Chinese patients with ALL were analyzed using TaqMan single nucleotide polymorphism genotyping assay. The serum MTX concentration was determined using homogeneous enzyme immunoassay. MTX-related toxicities were also evaluated. Renal toxicity was significantly associated with higher serum MTX concentrations at 24, 48, and 72 hours, and MTX elimination delay (P = 0.001, P < 0.001, P < 0.001, and P < 0.001, respectively), whereas SLCO1B1 rs4149056 was associated with serum MTX concentrations at 48 and 72 hours, and MTX elimination delay in candidate polymorphisms (P = 0.014, P = 0.019, and P = 0.007, respectively). SLC19A1 rs2838958 and rs3788200 were associated with serum MTX concentrations at 24 hours (P = 0.016, P = 0.043, respectively). MTRR rs1801394 was associated with serum MTX concentrations at 72 hours (P = 0.045). Neutropenia was related to SLC19A1 rs4149056 (odds ratio [OR]: 3.172, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.310-7.681, P = 0.011). Hepatotoxicity was associated with ABCC2 rs2273697 (OR: 3.494, 95% CI: 1.236-9.873, P = 0.018) and MTRR rs1801394 (OR: 0.231, 95% CI: 0.084-0.632, P = 0.004). Polymorphisms of SLCO1B1, SLC19A1, ABCC2, and MTRR genes help predict higher risk of increased MTX levels or MTX-related toxicities in adult ALL patients.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Polygoni Multiflori Radix Praeparata (Zhiheshouwu) has been a Wudang Taoist medicine for tonifying the liver and kidney, resolving turbidity and reducing lipid. Emodin is one of the active anthraquinones in Zhiheshouwu. Our previous studies showed that emodin (EM) and the other anthraquinones in Zhiheshouwu extract (HSWE) exerted similar inhibitory effects on liver cancer cells in vitro. However, it is still unknown if the other anthraquinones enhance pharmacokinetics (PK) of EM in HSWE in vivo. AIM OF THE STUDY: In this study, we compared the PK characteristics of EM alone with that in Zhiheshouwu aiming to explore which anthraquinones in HSWE contribute to the changed PK of EM in rats. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Quality control of HSWE was determined using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The ratios of emodin to other anthraquinones, physcion (PH), chrysophanol (CH), rhein (RH), aloe-emodin (AE), emodin-8-O-ß-D-glycoside (EMG), physcion-1-O-ß-D-glycoside (PHG) and chrysophanol-8-O-ß-D-glycoside (CHG) in HSWE were determined and analyzed using UPLC combined with tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC/MS). The PK parameters and intestinal tissue concentration of EM alone, EM in HSWE, or with other anthraquinones in SD rats were analyzed using UPLC/MS. RESULTS: The quality of the Zhiheshouwu samples met the quality standard of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia (Version 2020). The PK results showed that compared with EM alone, Cmax (239.90 ± 146.71 vs. 898.46 ± 291.62, P < 0.001), Tmax (0.26 ± 0.15 vs. 12.55 ± 1.33, P < 0.001), AUC0-t (1575.09 ± 570.46 vs. 12154.96 ± 5394.25, P < 0.001), and AUC0-∞ (4742.51 ± 1837.62 vs. 37131.34 ± 21647.39, P < 0.001) of EM in HSWE were decreased due to PH and EMG, while the values of Vd (380.75 ± 217.74 vs. 11.75 ± 7.35, P < 0.001), T1/2 (10.81 ± 1.99 vs. 6.65 ± 2.76, P < 0.05) and CL (19.30 ± 7.82 vs. 2.78 ± 1.88, P < 0.001) of EM in HSWE were increased due to PH and AE. In addition, the intestinal tissue concentration of emodin in HSWE was decreased compared with that of EM alone in 20 and 780 min (25.37 ± 5.98 vs. 43.29 ± 4.16 and 26.72 ± 4.03 vs. 43.40 ± 14.19, respectively. P < 0.05) dominantly due to RH and PH. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, compared with treatment of EM alone, the AUC0-t value of EM in HSWE was decreased with different ways in rats. PH shortened Tmax, and increased Vd and CL. While AE prolonged T1/2 of EM. This indicated that the other anthraquinones in HSWE changed the PK of EM in rats and participated in the complex effects of EM on liver cancer. Besides the other anthraquinones, other components (e.g., 2,3,5,4'-tetrahydroxystilbene-2-O-ß-D-glucoside) in Zhiheshouwu may contribute in the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic interactions with EM for anti-liver cancer.

ABSTRACT

Background: Premna Puberula Pamp. Pectin (PP) was a Wudang functional food in China. It has the effect of dispelling fire, clearing heat and detoxification in folk medicine. However, little studies have been reported for their preparation, quality control, effects and toxicity. Methods: The P. Puberula leaves were collected from different pharms and seasons. The compounds in PP were identified using UPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS. UV-VIS spectrophotometry with phenol-sulfuric acid and sodium nitrite aluminum nitrate were conducted for analyzing the water-soluble sugars and total flavonoids, respectively. L9(34) orthogonal experimental method was used to optimize the preparation process of PP. For the pharmacological effects of PP, the swelling right hind paw of ICR mice was modeled using subcutaneous injection of carrageenan gum solution, and the local tissue inflammatory reactions of the model mice were investigated using vernier calipers and HE staining. The serum inflammatory factor expression was detected using ELISA. The acute toxicity experiments were carried out for safety assessment of PP in ICR mice. Results: Fifty-three compounds were initially identified in PP among which flavonoids were dominant (19 out of 53). The average values of water-soluble sugar content and total flavonoid content of PP were 13.366 and 4.970 mg/g, respectively. The best preparation process of PP was powder-liquid ratio 1: 20, temperature 90 °C, and stirring time 3 min. Data showed that PP reduced paw edema and decrease the serum level of IL-6, TNF-α and IL-1ß in the model mice. There was no toxic effect of PP on mice at a total dose of 6000 mg/kg/24h. Conclusion: In summary, by optimizing the preparation process, PP with stable quality can be obtained. PP has anti-inflammatory effects without toxicity.

ABSTRACT

WRINKLED1 (WRI1) is a transcription factor which is key to the regulation of seed oil biosynthesis in Arabidopsis. In the study, we identified two WRI1 genes in rice, named OsWRI1a and OsWRI1b, which share over 98% nucleotide similarity and are expressed only at very low levels in leaves and endosperms. The subcellular localization of Arabidopsis protoplasts showed that OsWRI1a encoded a nuclear localized protein. Overexpression of OsWRI1a under the control of the CaMV 35S promoter severely retarded plant growth and development in rice. Expressing the OsWRI1a gene under the control of the P1 promoter of Brittle2 (highly expressed in endosperm but low in leaves and roots) increased the oil content of both leaves and endosperms and upregulated the expression of several genes related to late glycolysis and fatty acid biosynthesis. However, the growth and development of the transgenic plants were also affected, with phenotypes including smaller plant size, later heading time, and fewer and lighter grains. The laminae (especially those of flag leaves) did not turn green and could not unroll normally. Thus, ectopic expression of OsWRI1a in rice enhances oil biosynthesis, but also leads to abnormal plant growth and development.

Introduction: Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) is mostly due to the chromosome translocation t (15; 17) (q22; q12), leading to the formation of PML-RARA fusion protein. Some patients carried rare translocation involving RARA gene, who were called variant APL caused by RAR family (RARA, RARB, and RARG) and partner genes. STAT5b-RARA was a rare type of molecular genetic abnormality with unfavorable prognosis which have been reported in only 18 cases in variant APL. Knowledge of STAT5b-RARA (+) APL treatment is still limited. Case report: We presented a 38-year-old female variant APL case, who was STAT5b-RARA positive detected by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. The patient failed to respond after four-drug combined induction chemotherapy: idarubicin, cytarabine, all trans retinoic acid, and arsenic trioxide (As2O3). Then, the patient was re-induced with azacytidine, but still failed to achieve complete remission (CR). Next, she was treated with Venetoclax combining with homoharringtonine and cytarabine as the salvage therapy and achieved CR. Later, the patient received hematopoietic stem cell transplantation after 4 cycles of consolidation therapy. Conclusion: Venetoclax combining with homoharringtonine and cytarabine has been used as the salvage therapy in the STAT5b-RARA positive APL successfully.

It is an urgent need to develop new environmentally friendly spinel ferrites with high catalytic efficiency. In this work, a series of Mg-Fe-Al-O spinels with different ratios of Mg/Al were successfully synthesized by the reaction sintering method and were used as a heterogeneous photo-Fenton catalyst for degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB). The effect of different ratios of Mg/Al on the properties of Mg-Fe-Al-O spinel was characterized and analyzed through a range of advanced characterization techniques and DFT calculations. The influence factors on the photo-Fenton reaction catalyzed by Mg-Fe-Al-O spinels were systematically investigated. The results showed that the prepared Mg-Fe-Al-O spinels had larger lattice parameters, wider bandgap, and stronger magnetism, with the Mg content increased. Among them, Mg-9 (Mg0.88Fe1.88Al0.23O4) had the best catalytic performance in the photo-Fenton reaction. The degradation efficiency of RhB reached 98.45%, and the TOC removal efficiency was 83.47%. The elemental valence and PDOS of Mg-9 (Mg0.88Fe1.88Al0.23O4) spinels were closer to MgFe2O4. The photo-generated holes could directly oxidize water and hydroxyl to generate reactive oxygen species ·OH, improving the catalytic activity.
